Inspired By Hamburg — Irish skater Joe Hill reflects on his last six months living and skating in Germany.

“If you’re a professional footballer it’s completely acceptable,” says Irish skater Joe Hill in new Inspired By Hamburg video. “But if you’re a professional skateboarder it’s like, ‘Get a job. Do something more constructive with your life.’”

After spending the last couple of years travelling around Europe to skate, twenty-five-year-old Joe Hill made the move from Derry City to Hamburg about six months ago. This meditative little vignette, produced by European airline Lufthansa, features Hill sessioning some spots in his new adopted home and reflecting on what it’s like to make the move.

“A different place is a different feeling,” he says. “When I’m the only one doing something in my town I don’t really feel inspired to do anything but when I come over here I go out, go to any spot or park and there’s 100 other people pushing themselves, which pushes me.”
