Prophet of the intoxicated — NERDO design collective pay tribute to Bukowski with a striking animated version of his short poem ‘Beer’.

“I don’t know how many bottles I’ve consumed while waiting for things to get better,” poet Charles Bukowski muses.

Most of Bukowski’s output is notoriously alcohol-stained, but few works are so singularly-focussed on the devil’s drink as ‘Beer’.

Taking the late prophet of the intoxicated’s short poem as a starting point, Turin-based design collective NERDO have created a striking visual tribute and animated journey through the author’s mind.

They describe their animated reimagination of his text as, “a tale of ordinary madness, showing how much loneliness and decadence can be hidden inside a genius mind.”
